All in Your Mind
You need to change your mind set. When you think ‘Oh, I’m in the middle of dieting now, so I can’t eat much’, your weight loss project will never succeed. You may be able to lose a pound or two for a while, but then you will get that lost pound again. What you need is lifestyle change, which includes better meal arrangement and menu planning, and also healthier lifestyle. You need to change your mind set that you are now undergoing transformation into a better and healthier lifestyle where you will exercise more regularly and you will have better and wiser meal plan.
Skipping is No-no
Never skips any meal time. Skipping meal will only make you hungry, and you won’t be able to have good self control when you are starving. What you need to do is to keep the regular meal time, but with smaller portion.
Be sure that you have 3 main meals and 2 snacks time arrangement. Most people don’t know that the metabolism has never stopped working. It always runs and it needs fuel to do so. With 3 main meal and 2 snacks arrangement, you make sure that your body gets the needed supply to keep it running and burn more calories. You see, when you skip meal, your metabolism is going slower. You may feel that you have lost a pound, but your body doesn’t burn anything – how could it when it doesn’t have anything to burn? On the contrary to what people believe, managing the right meal arrangement can actually help you lose weight fast and efficiently – and you don’t have to starve yourself.
Keep Yourself Full
Don’t go shopping with your stomach empty. When you have to do grocery shopping, make sure you have eaten, so you won’t be tempted to grab the most appealing snacks. At first I thought this way is ridiculous; what’s the connection between empty stomach and grocery shopping, anyway? But later on, I found out that when I am full, I am not really tempted to buy any unhealthy snacks, and I tend to stick to my shopping list. Another tip is that you should have a shopping list, so you won’t be straying far from your shopping purpose.
Hungry, or thirsty?
Make sure that you can differentiate real hunger and thirst. Often time people go on berserk mode on snacking because they think that they are hungry, while they are actually just thirsty. So when you are hungry, drink a glass or two of water first, and wait for around 5 minutes. If you are still hungry, go with the wiser and healthier option.
